Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes, we do! Click here to see them. They are a great value because we only charge for the face value of the card but include the gift certificate and a sample 12 by 12 inch sample digital scrapbook page, so the recipient can see the final quality of the printed page and get an instant look at our print quality. There's no sales tax on gift certificates, either, which means that if your order a $25.00 gift certificate, all you pay is $25.00.
How do I enter your page of the month contest?
By clicking ‘submit to gallery’ when you share your digital scrapbook pages. We will contact you for final permission via email, and use the person’s first name, city/state, and subject's first name only. The winner is announced in our monthly newsletter and receives a $100 How Fast Time Flies gift certificate.
How do you select the page of the month every month? What is the criteria for winning?
We look for originality, good photography, and the "story" behind the page, including great journaling.
How does your website and digi-scrapbook work?
How Fast Time Flies is a unique web-based photo application for creating your own 12x12 scrapbook pages. We are free and unlimited to use. Our application, digi-scrapbook®, does not need to be downloaded, so you can access your account and create your own unique digital scrapbook pages anywhere, from any computer. First, become a member. Then, click on the digi-scrapbook® icon, on the bottom right hand corner of the website. Upload your digital photos to your account, and then drag and drop your photos onto any of our 624 templates. Remember to SAVE your page, and share it with friends via our email system. Then, when you are ready to order, you can PUBLISH your page, and add it to your cart. Our pages are $5.50 each and are printed in stunning quality on 12x12" cardstock paper. Once you order and receive your pages, you can simply slide your pages into standard (large) 12x12 scrapbook albums, which are available on our website or at most craft and stationery specialty stores. The appeal of our system is that you can grow your album over time. It's like traditional scrapbooking, but without the mess, hassle and cost. Have fun!
How long will the pages last?
The pages are printed on acid-free high quality 110 pound cardstock. With proper storage away from UV light in an acid-free environment like our scrapbooks, they last up to 100 years.
How many days does it take to receive pages from the time I order?
We print and ship digital scrapbook pages 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. It takes up to 7 days to arrive on the East Coast and up to 4 days if you live on the West Coast.
I am having problems finding some of the templates that I can see on the main page.
The groups of pages are organized by designer and collection. You can use the dropdown menu on the left hand side to select a designer, then the dropdown menu below that to select from those collections. Before you start, it’s best to get familiar with all of our digital scrapbooking templates available, which you can do in the "view templates" section.
I am having trouble uploading my photo(s)…can you help?
First, make sure you are signed into Digi-scrapbook and in the my projects or edit page area, then click 'ADD PHOTOS' when you want to begin uploading photos. This will open a window to your desktop, where you can browse to find the folder on your desktop that houses your photos, usually files and folders in "My Pictures." If you are uploading from your desktop folders, there should be no issue in locating the photos and the images. Our software accepts files of the format .jpeg, .jpg, .png, and .gif. If they are not one of these formats, it cannot be used and will have to be re-saved under one of those formats. Also, if the files are stored in a place other than your desktop, like a photo share website, there could also be issues in uploading the images, and they may need to be re-saved into a folder on your desktop in order to allow proper transfer. Once you've selected the images you'd like to use, click the 'OPEN' button in the image selection window, and the files should begin to upload. Depending on the file size, number of images, and the speed of your internet connection, the upload process should take anywhere from less than a second to a few minutes. Our software does not take files larger than 5MB each, which is considered extremely large for individual images. A pop-up icon which looks like the second hand on a clock informs you of the progress of the transfer of each image, as well as a progress indicator in the photo upload window.
I am trying to publish a page, and getting an error message saying there is a problem with the text.
The error message comes up when there is too many letters or too large a font size to properly print in the printable area. You will need to lower the size of your font or use fewer words. If you are still having trouble, email orders{at}howfasttimeflies.com and we will assist in making the necessary corrections and publishing your page for you.
I’ve finished one page but would like to see what the page looks like with a different design.
Can I do this? Absolutely and it’s one of the most fun features of digi-scrapbook. On the left hand side of digi-scrapbook, above the template chooser, click on “swap backgrounds” and then use the dropdown menu to instantly change the background, but keeping the photos and text constant. You may find a template you like better, with the same layout. You cannot change layouts, however.
My photo looks too large or too small for the photo box. How do I fix that?
Digi-scrapbook® has real-time photo editing if you open the "Edit Photos" window in the top left hand corner. You can then click on the photo you want to edit, and zoom, crop, rotate the photo to how you’d like it. Check out our demo to see this feature in action.
My text box says "Your journaling here." Will it print that way?
Yes, this is default text that WILL print if you do not delete or change it. You can delete the default text by highlighting the word(s) and then hitting the delete button. You can change the text size, color and font design by highlighting the text and using the edit buttons to get where you want it. Note that there are up to 4 text boxes on each digi-scrapbook page. Make sure you've either changed the text or deleted it to what you want.
Once I have published a page, can I delete it somehow?
You cannot delete your digi-scrapbook published pages, due to the fact they may be in our print queue. The best rule of thumb is not to publish a page unless you plan to order it. Otherwise, you can simply save the page in your account.
What countries do you ship to?
We ship to all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico and Canada.
What happens if I delete photos from my account?
If you delete images from your account, they will be REMOVED from our server, and thus you cannot use them. If you have created a page and then deleted the image from your account, the image will also be removed from your page. If you do inadvertently delete an images, you can reupload the photo at any time.
When I drag & drop my photo into a photo box in digi-scrapbook, it looks like a small postage stamp.
Most likely, your image is low resolution. There are two thresholds of resolution. Resolution of a digital image only needs to be 72 dpi (dots per inch) to look good on your monitor. But printing high-quality images is a different story. Since our pages are meant to be printed at 300dpi, digi-scrapbook automatically converts the image to the resolution that your image would look like if printed. If you use higher-resolution photos, e.g. 1MB per photo or more, you will not have this issue. If you right click and review the properties of your image on your desktop, it will tell you the size of the image. Under 500 KB is generally not suitable for printing. Note that if you’ve downloaded the image from mass-market photo sites, they automatically downsize the image size and quality. It’s best to use original images.
When I go to edit the text box I am using, it tells me there is not enough space. Why?
Our pages are meant to be printed, and there are printing constraints we’ve put into digi-scrapbook to ensure text is not cut off during printing. You will need to cut down the number of letters and words or downsize your font size.
